GDCR 2014 Needs a Visual Designer!

UPDATE: Several volunteers have stepped up to help us with the website and the media pack. Thanks!

If you have ever visited the Global Day of Coderetreat event website, then you know how ugly it is. All our previous attempts to improve the site have not worked out. We ran a website design contest last year but we only received one entry.

We are asking the community directly for help!

We are looking for volunteer visual designers who have an interest in rebranding GDCR and changing our visual identity. We need help redesigning the Global Day of Coderetreat Website, logo, and media pack. The media pack typically includes:

  • Promotional Flyer Templates
  • Sticker designs
  • Global Sponsor Prospectus
  • Local Sponsor Prospectus Template
  • Email announcement templates
  • Social Networks Page Design Template
  • Talking points
  • Press release templates
  • Directional signs to the event (and bathrooms)
  • Style Guide

We (the committee that organizes GDCR) are enthusiasts who use our personal time to organize the event. Additionally, we are not visual designers.

There is no budget for visual design. All funds received from sponsorships are used to promote, coordinate, and help fund community-based programming educational organizations (this year we supporting CoderDojo).

We have a volunteer web developer and we are looking for at least one volunteer designer. We need your help!

If you are interested in volunteering, the team would love to hear from you. Main guidelines will be provided, but your creativity and innovation are the only limits.

If you are interested, please email
